Announcing Dr. Clint

There's a Doctor in the house!!! Clint passed his thesis defense on Monday. I was able to attend and he did phenomenal, even though I didn't understand a thing he was talking about. We are so proud of him. So now Clint is a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering. I told him last night that he would now have to tell me something philosophical every night before we go to bed. I was told "there is wisdom in silence". A little cocky right?

March 3rd-9th - Crazy Life

Life has been a little busy for us lately. You can see that by my lack of weekly updates to this extremely fascinating blog. We have been trying to balance me going back full time to work, Clint wrapping up grad school and defending his thesis (most challenging thing of his life yet except trying to woo me -- ok so I am flattering myself), getting our house ready to sell, traveling, layoffs at work and me pursuing a transfer. For those of you who don't know Clint took a job in Bartlesville, OK with Conocophillips. This week God blessed me with a great job opportunity in Bartlesville as well. I was uncertain because securing a transfer right now within the company is a challenge. Interestingly enough they want me up there no later than the beginning of May. That is just 6 weeks away! So you can see how crazy things have been. Below is a picture of the little man and the big man in their matching outfits. The is the way we roll at our house -- shorts and no shirt.

Sawyer also got to hang out with his friend baby Karsten this weekend. They were born about the same time. Sawyer is just going crazy lately squirming and rolling. Kool Karsten just enjoyed chillaxin. They were both adorable.

Feb 24th – March 2nd – Girls’ Weekend

Sawyer took his first flight this weekend. We went to Tulsa, OK where I had my annual girls’ weekend. He did great. I met up with my 3 best friends and we went to my parent’s lake house to do absolutely nothing for a few days. I brought Sawyer along as Clint was getting ready to defend his thesis. My girlfriend Karen brought her son, Isaac. Karen and Tim went to Korea and adopted Isaac the same week Sawyer was born. The boys had fun playing together.

We then went to Tulsa for my friend Ashley’s bachelorette party. The grandparents were wonderful enough to meet us and Tulsa and take turns babysitting. I also got to see my nieces and nephews (one nephew is still in Julie's tummy -- she is doing great!). It was wonderful to see my girlfriends and get away. Sawyer loves people. He got a hold of Savannah and laid a big one on her. Then he would not let go of her. I am glad her daddy did not see that. Baby Jack is also trying to be a part of the action. I have a feeling these boys are going to fight over sweet Savannah for the rest of their lives and it is only going to get more complicated when Mango (Julie and Taylor's baby) arrives.

Feb 17th – Feb 23rd – Growing up

Sawyer is getting so big. He is trying to figure out how to get around. He can sit up completely on his own now. Scoot a little on the floor. Mostly in a circle. He loves to tear up magazines, harass Heidi, and hang out with his dad. I have been fortunate enough to exclusively breast feed and now am trying make his baby food. He already eats a lot and has enjoyed everything we have fed him so far which includes rice cereal, sweet potatoes, apples, acorn squash, bananas, avocados, and oat meal. He also has figured out how to suck from a straw.

At Sawyer's 6 month appointment he weighed 20 lbs 10 oz. and was 28.5 inches long. That put him in the 90% for weight and 95% for height. He is getting sooo big.

I started back full time this week. It was one of those things I had to do to keep up with work. I am thankful for such a good flexible job, but it is exhausting. I am able to work early hours so I can pick Sawyer up from the babysitter around 3:30 pm. Clint is home with Sawyer until lunch time. We have a friend who is watching Sawyer and she is wonderful. He loves to play with her 1 ½ year old boy who is an absolute love. Below are just some of our latest photos.

Feb 10th – Feb 16th – Valentine’s Day

We had a great Valentine’s Day. We got up early and went to brunch at our favorite restaurant. We then went to the park. We watched movies in the afternoon and cooked dinner. It was very relaxing and so much fun to spend time just as a family.

We brought Oatmeal Cream Pies with us to the park to hand out to homeless people.

Feb 3rd – Feb 9th – Sawyer’s Room

Not much has gone on this week so I thought I would finally post pictures of the nursery. We did not paint the walls because we knew we wouldn’t be living here long after Sawyer was born. We actually have changed things around in the nursery (these pictures are from August) but I never got around to posting the nursery pictures.
