Halloween 2013

 This year Sawyer really wanted to be a mummy for Halloween.  Beau originally wanted to be Superman.  Since Paul doesn't get a vote yet I decided he would be a mummy too.  Once I started on the mummy costumes, Beau changed his mind and decided he wanted to be a mummy too.  Victory!  This is probably the only time in my life that my children's costumes will coordinate.

We had a little family Halloween celebration over lunch with pumpkin carving.  Beau's pumpkin was suppose to be David from the No David! children's books.  He has been obsessed with the books this fall.

Next Sawyer had his party at school.

Grammy and Grandpa then brought the boys Halloween treats and decorated cupcakes with the boys.  We then had the neighborhood families over for dinner and to trick or treat.  We just set up tables, firepits, and food between our house and the Joyces'.  We had a great time, but Beau and Sawyer were still a little too young to keep up with the older kids.  Sawyer had no desire to rush from house to house and Beau is still at the age where he would rather eat the candy than trick or treat.  Our neighborhood was pretty slow this year so we ended up with a ton of candy.  Clint took most of it to work to share with his students.

OSU Football 2013 Season

We started the OSU Football season by taking the whole family to the first game.  It was fun, but we were packed into our seats.  The boys did enjoy the whole experience though.

We then got to meet Pistol Pete and the players on the field at a Pistol Pete fan club party.  The boys had fun, but Clint was in heaven.

Once again we had the Faughts and the Campbells join us for Homecoming.  It is so much fun to have friends in town.  Saturday evening people just kept showing up.  We had a big "party" with friends coming by and hanging out with our neighbors.  At one point I was completely surprised with family friends from the mountain, the Farrar's, showing up.  They were in town for homecoming from Nebraska!

Clint and I were invited by our friends Crystal and Byron to go to the Kansas game.

Clint was awarded the Harold Courson Chair of Petroleum Engineering.  We are so proud of him to receive this honor, a chaired position in his first year at the university.  He received a medal for the chair at the Baylor game.  It was freezing and he was given suite tickets.  The lucky guy.  He then received the award in the suite of all suites by the man himself, T. Boone Pickens. 

Clint was able to go to several other games with friends.  He especially had fun at homecoming with Taylor.  Let's just say I found them blissfully wandering down Duck St (Clint found whiskey "capri suns" to sneak into the game).  He joined the Walker's to the OU game which was 4 degrees!  

Juke Joint Jog

This year was the 26th annual Juke Joint Jog.  Grammy has run the fun run at all previous 25 and wanted Sawyer to join her this year.  We thought it was a great idea!  Sawyer and Clint ran the mile together ahead of the pack while I pushed the stroller with Beau and Paul and ran along side Grammy and Grandpa.  Sawyer did great, stayed focus and pushed himself the entire way.  We have never seen him this determined before, even after getting tripped by a kid at the beginning of the race and eating cement.  What an accomplishment!  Grammy took a shortcut and was able to cross the finish line with Sawyer and Clint.

Paul 9 months

Paul turned nine months old on October 9th.  What a fun month it has been.  Paul has earned the name "Party Time" or "P.T." (also his initials).  We have realized he totally has FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and that explains the total lack of sleep.  He is happy and chill as along as there is a lot going on.  At home he can get hyper and silly.  He makes us laugh and is such a funny little guy.  We get stopped everywhere by people commenting on how blue his eyes are.  He is not crawling yet and we are anxious for the day to come.  I think he will be a lot happier.  He loves to empty out the bottom drawers and it buys me some time.  He is sleeping better and hopefully will soon be taking normal naps.  He eats solids just fine and has not given any problems with that.  In fact, he would be the perfect baby if he just had better sleeping habits and occasionally let me put him down.  I have gotten pretty severe tennis elbow (the pain keeps me up at night sometimes, ow) from carrying this guy around. 

 

Beau is counting, pointing out letters and pointing out colors.  He loves to ask "What dat mean" for everything.  He has a "hole in his blankie" and loves to climb in.  Sometimes he tells Sawyer it is raining and they climb in the blankie together.  Beau always has his blankie with him.  He has been very kissy this month and I love it.

Sawyer is starting to read words.  He has always had such a passion for reading books so we started reading non-picture books this month with Chronicles of Narnia.  We've also have been listening to The Magic Tree House Audio books.  We have also been doing memory bible verses.  He has 5 memorized better than I do.  He is still loving school.  He has a "special" friend at school, Jaci.  She is are neighbor and so precious.  They hold hands and are always together.  Sawyer and Beau have been talking a lot of potty talk to eachother.  They think it is hilarious.  We had to lay down the law on them so Sawyer has been teaching himself to spell the words instead of talking (poo poo).
