Easter 2012

We had a great Easter.  Sawyer really got into the message that Jesus' tomb was empty on Easter Sunday and Beau got really into finding Easter eggs.  Grammy and Grandpa had an Easter egg hunt for the boys in their backyard.  Next the boys went to Meme and Kimbo's for their annual Easter egg hunt.  It is a pretty big deal because there are nine grandkids, plus nieces, nephews and family friends.  The boys had a great time and had no problem holding their own even with the more seasoned Easter egg hunters.

While hunting eggs, the kids found a rainbow king snake guarding an egg.  All the other kids thought it was so cool and were snapping pictures with their parents i-phones while Sawyer was screaming bloody murder, running back to the house, and hiding.  I guess we shouldn't let him watch "Nature's Deadliest" on Netflix anymore.

This little guy, Summit, turned one the day of the birthday party.  He is such a sweet little guy.

We dyed eggs Easter weekend.  Beau loved it and dyed eggs longer than anyone.  He quickly decided that it was much faster to stick his hand in to grab the egg rather than using a spoon.  He also liked the cool cracking noises the eggs made anytime they hit something.  We only had about two edible eggs when it was all over.

Sawyer got really into doing the resurrection eggs.  We probably read them to him at least 20 times leading up to Easter.  He even slept with his eggs.  I love Jesus and all, but I packed those babies up as soon as Easter was over.

The boys loved their Easter baskets.  The second most popular toy was their foam light sabers made from pool noodles with the first being chocolate of course.

Like I said Beau was quite the pro finding Easter eggs.  We had lots of practice with Easter egg hunts in the backyard and around the house leading up to Easter.  Most of the eggs were filled with quarters this year.  Sawyer got a quarter map for Christmas.  Clint has hijacked the map and is obsessively trying to collect all the quarters.

March 2012

March went by really fast for us.  Clint and I spent a lot of time working on the house.  It was also a period when both boys were going through testing phases at the same time.  It was probably the hardest month of the year so far, but thankfully we continued to have beautiful weather.

We love to go on bike rides and walks.  Sawyer can really hold his own on his bike so we can make it a few miles on some of the flat parts of Pathfinder.

One of Sawyer's "special friends".  He is creative with names, this is Rhino.

We did not make it on a camp out in March, but we did go to the camp ground and cook dinner over the fire.  I have to capture this because Sawyer found the straightest stick any of us had ever seen.  Of course he had to bring it home.  He used it to fight imaginary bad guys, but Beau ended up with two black eyes from the stick (on separate occasions and it was an accident).  Eventually the boys did end up with foam swords.

We had some 90 degree weather in March.  The boys had to break out the hose.   I wanted to show Beau's hangover in this picture because unfortunately I don't think publishing a picture of his booty cellulite is appropriate.

Last Winter Post

I had a few more pictures from this winter I wanted to capture.  These boys love their rocking horse.  Its name is Cheyenne and it sings these really creepy songs while its mouth moves.  The boys are constantly riding on their horse together, alone, naked, clothed. They love the thing.

Beau spent the first nine months strictly mine (I think it had something to do with the food source), but he is now strictly his Daddy's baby.  These two are always together and Beau pushes me away when his Dad is around.  Aren't they a handsome pair except for Beau's belly hanging out of his pants.

February 2012

I always dread February.  This year I had myself mentally prepped to deal with SAD (ok, I don't really have it, but someday I want to use SAD as an excuse to spend February on the beach) and we had the most fantastic weather.  It was beautiful and warm with only a small snow storm.  We were able to play outside everyday!  I guess this means job security for my husband (some of his research involves climate change).

Sawyer is finally enjoying his blocks.  I am pretty sure though this tower was the work of Sawyer and his daddy.

Clint and I love going to the Tall Grass Prairie in Pawhuska.  Clint has been reading up on the dust bowl and it is amazing to see a small stretch reminiscent of what America looked like originally.

We love little day trips.  I think this is why.  The boys both sleep well in the car and we can drink our Starbucks in peace.  Beau moved into forward facing car seat around this time.  He was too rotund to fit in the rear facing seat with any layers on.  One day it was just him and me running errands.  I put him in Sawyer's car seat so I wouldn't have to strip him down.  Big mistake.  He refused to ride backwards after that.

Clint plans awesome theme nights for us.  This was Treasure Island night.  It involved getting the book and explaining the story to Sawyer, eating at Long John Silvers, and watching the movie.  We hadn't eaten at Long John Silvers since we were kids.  Amazingly the place was packed.  Sawyer was so excited in the picture he wouldn't stand still.

Notice Clint has on his Hawaiian shirt.

We also made a little trip to the Gilcrease Museum to see the Woody Guthrie exhibit with some friends.  We have been really into American history and Oklahoma history this year and this fit right in.  Sawyer brought his "special friend", Tiger, to the museum with us.  He left it.  We were on the other side of town when we realized we didn't have him on us.  We had to turn around, and search the museum until we found him.  After that I told Sawyer he is only allowed to bring Huggie places (his imaginary friend - he never gets lost).

Snack time at the park.  These guys really have fun together and get along great.  I am so blessed.

Sawyer is a little genius when it comes to these shapes.  We all enjoy doing them, but it just clicks for him.

Our only little snowstorm.  That was fine with me.

One thing that amazed me and still does as a momma is how my heart flips every single time I see one of my sleeping babies.

Sawyer is still Clint's little buckskin and my angel.

Now this guy had his 18 month appointment this month.  He was 32 2/4" (90%) and 28 lb 9 oz (90%).  He is such a fun fun person.

Valentine's Day 2012

Valentine's Day was great.  I, like most women, have a love/hate relationship with the holiday.  Well this year I decided just to love the holiday.  Sawyer is really getting into holidays now and he is such a sweet person so Valentine's Day was a total hit.  He did get sick and had to miss his party at school, which broke my heart.  I still remember clearly when I had to miss my kindergarten Valentine's Day party because I was sick.  It was traumatic for me; it still makes my eyes water thinking about it.  But we made a lot of Valentine's crafts and played lots of Candyland.

Clint took me out on a very nice date.  For the first time in about a month, I got out of sweats.  Ha, I swore I would never be that SAHM.  We went to the Brasserie in Tulsa and probably had the best meal we had eaten it about two years.  It was so nice and romantic.

Between school, Meme, and Grammy, my boys had candy for a whole month.  Eventually some of the candy was donated to the Bartlesville Municiple Landfill.   They both love all sugar, especially suckers!
