Colorado 2012 Part 2 - Cabin Work

Even though we had a relaxing time at the cabin this year, we wanted to get our final plumbing inspection done. This might sound easy, but in the bureaucratic age of the 21st century, this is not for the faint of heart. Making sure all the correct forms are filed, fees paid, and inspectors scheduled takes time and effort that we really didn't have room for this year. Getting the plumbing inspection done actually happens in two stages. In 2011, we got the rough-in inspection done. In this part of the process, we had to do a leak test with no fixtures. The inspector passed us on "cabin code." The second stage was the final inspection where we had to have the fixtures in place. As you know from our previous posts, 2012 was not a walk in the park for the Aichele family, so getting our s$#& together for the final inspection took everything we had. We passed with no problems. It never would have been done without the help of Jason, Grandpa, and Joel. The first task was painting the bathroom.

Melanie had the great idea to rob an old dresser from our new house in Stillwater to use as the vanity in the bathroom. The sink given to us by Melanie's parents fit perfectly. Thanks to Jason for his help, especially on the tub.

 

We cleaned up the front porch. Man, we wish we were there.

One of our favorite spots at the cabin is our fire pit. Unfortunately, it was so dry this year that we didn't get to have a fire.
