We made solar s'mores. Clint still tries to do at least one science experiment a month with the boys.
We went with our small group to a Tulsa Drillers game. For the boys, it was all about the food. Lots of hotdogs and pizza were consumed because it was $2 everything night. We loved our small group and have missed them greatly. They were by far one of our biggest blessings during our time in Bartlesville. Unfortunately, I don't have a group picture of everyone.
Of course we had to get snowcones at least once during the summer. It was bizarrely cold and windy the day we went to get our snowcones. In fact, they shut down the hut just after they served us because they said it was too cold.
We had a few more picnics at the choo choo train park. This was a favorite spot of the boys. We'd eat our picnic, then they could climb on the choo choo train. They loved it and it became a weekly ritual for us. On this particular picnic, we decided to forego our healthy home lunch and splurge at Lot-a-burger.
One of our favorite things about Bartlesville was Pathfinder. It was a 13 mile bike/walk trail that started at the end of our street. Most of the trail is fairly forested, shaded, and very beautiful. We spent many hours walking and riding our bikes on various points of this trail. Clint even used it to commute to work. He loved taking the boys on long bike rides along the trail too. The boys loved their time alone with Daddy.
Beau enjoyed the shade along the trail.
A scenic bridge over the Caney river about 2 miles from our house. Just on the other side of the bridge we'd always see a bunch of deer.
And our other most favorite spot in Bartlesville was "our" park. The boys and I spent so many hours out here. We loved having the neighborhood park essentially in our yard, and all the green space and extra sidewalk it provided. We definitely went out there almost daily in our attempt to cram a whole summer into one month.
We also did four straight weeks of swim lessons for Sawyer (two sessions). He was amazing. Within the first week they promoted him from Pre-school class, through Starfish and on to Seahorse with the 5 and 6 year olds (he was only 3 at the time). We were so proud of how well he followed instructions and tried everything he was supposed to. He struggled with rolling over from back to stomach while still staying floating, but he practiced at home until he achieved it! We were so proud of our fish.
Our routine in June typically included Jazzercise after swim lessons, but the first trimester fatigue was killing me. I love Jazercise so I would have to guzzle ice tea through swim lessons to make it through swim lessons and on to the gym.
The boys and I had such a peaceful month. We love summer and had a great time playing.
This was Sawyer's "Rhino". I found about 100 different photos on him on my phone in the month of June. He was a part of our daily life for much of the past year. Unfortunately, he got left in Guymon, Oklahoma on our pilgrimage to Colorado. PTL we still had Huggie (the imaginary friend) with us.
We did have a going away party in June. We had a lot of friends come out and say goodbye. It was a lot of fun, but we ended up not taking any photos. We had the final inspection right before the party (at least the house was clean) so I spent a lot of the party playing hostess instead of pictures. We had a Shirley Temple bar. Sawyer is demonstrating one below.
